Sign Update

SIGN UPDATE

Thank you all who donated to the sign!  Also thank you to Dave Carew for writing a wonderful article in the Lincoln Journal Star.  Click here to read the article.  I wanted to update everyone on the project.  As you can see we’ve got the sign working properly now and people are advertising.  If you are interested in advertising the cost are:

(1) Day = $2           (2) Days = $2          (3) Days = $3

(4) Days = $4          (5) Days = $5          (6) Days = $6

(7) Days = $7

You can find envelopes at the Farmers & Merchants Bank, Beaver Hardware store, Potters Repair, Shears & Blades or the Village Office.  Simply complete the form and drop in the LIFE mail box.

There are currently 3 Concordia students competing to design the Beavers that will go across the sign.  At the next Chamber meeting the drawings will be presented.  The chamber will vote on the best artist and award them with a plaque and $50.  At that point the Chamber will work with the artist to make the final design.  We’ll take that final design to a metal shop that will then cut out the images to be mounted on the sign.

The public is welcome to attend our next Chamber meeting to discuss the design of the sign.  Please keep in mind that donations ARE still needed to cover the final design of the sign.  Please make donations payable to Beaver Crossing Chamber of Commerce.  Please also visit www.beavercrossingne.com for further updates.

Tree Grant Approval

GRANT AWARDED

Thanks to an informed citizen Charlotte Gerig Beaver Crossing has received a tree grant from the Trees for Nebraska Towns.  Please see the official award letter received below.  We hope that this will be one of many grants awarded to the Village of Beaver Crossing.

Dear Shannon:

I am happy to inform you that $3,295.00 from the Trees for Nebraska Towns program has been awarded to Beaver Crossing for your Shade Our Park project. A review committee carefully reviewed and ranked all applications according to the criteria of the program. In an effort to fund as many worthy projects as possible, some funding awards were reduced from their original request.

Please note: Additional information, including provisions (funding conditions) upon which funding is based will be mailed to you within the next two weeks. You should not proceed with any portion of the project to be covered by TNT funds until you have received the provisions, returned the project agreement and given a notice to proceed. If you would like your project on a faster track please let us know as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, you can contact me directly at 402-472-6693.  If you can’t get in touch with me and you need immediate assistance, please contact Justin Evertson, Green Infrastructure Coordinator, 402-472-5045, jevertson1@unl.edu.

Congratulations on your award.  We look forward to partnering with you on this endeavor.
